Japanese Food Packaging
As a foreigner, one of the first things you notice in Japan is all the wacky English on the food and beverage containers. Most product packaging in Japan has at least some English,
although you'll probably find it more amusing than useful. Most visitors find this crazy and colourful English a little curious. So why all the odd translations? One Canadian teaching English in Japan tells a story about a woman who was taking one of his basic English courses. This is the class for people with little or no knowledge of the English language. Talking to the class in halting English, she explained what she did at work all day - write the English captions on Japanese drink cans.
